Biography
Iyana Lewis is an illustrator and author born and raised in Philadelphia. Iyana currently studies Illustration at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art, working towards her BFA. She focuses on strengthening her graphic skills by encompassing an aptitude for traditional painting and printmaking methods.
Her education in graphic and traditional art at PAFA, partnered with her literary skills, has allowed her to conceive a body of graphic work laden with visual storytelling.
Iyana is a select breed of artists whose modes of artistic expression are not shackled or limited to a visual medium. She’s an artist who engrains her diverse skill sets from various fields of interest, such as writing into her art and creating an intricately and heavily detailed body of work. Said work explores tonality, line weight, and design while not limited to bold and vibrant displays of color in composition through copious amounts of drafting. Such meticulous drafting is birthed by her pursuit in illustrative areas of concept art, character design, and book illustration.
Although not published outside the field of poetry, Iyana is currently working on her fantasy graphic novel “Seven Seas”, amongst other projects.
